SAFETY – PRECAUTIONS
We have assessed several potential hazards and tested technical measures to prevent any risk by implementing proper safety precautions.

OPERATION

All controls are clearly visible. The treatment cycle is designed to allow minimum human involvement. The operator should only take care of switching on the system, loading the vessek and starting the treatment cycle.
The automatic mode guarantees fail-safe operation. However, the manual mode can also be selected to test the system or troubleshoot malfunctions.

Accidental or improper access to operating areas (rotor and blades) is prevented thank to a number of block:

• Safety lid switch to prevent start if lid is not properly locked
• Safety discharge switch to prevent start if discharge outlet is not properly locked
• Lid locking system to prevent accidental operning during operation
• Discharge outlet locking system to prevent opening during operation
The potential for break-up of the rotating blades or the rotor supporting system, i.e. rotating flange and blade-holder,  has been tested under normal operating conditions.
The rotor elements have been designed to withstand the stress  generated during shredding of most common medical materials, e.g. needles, scalpels, sanitary boxes, metallic probes, glass, plastic, cellulose, organic matter, etc.) Therefore, the rotor is tested to withstand the shocks and stress entailed in the process.
The system is also equipped with an emergency stop button requiring manual restarting of the machine.

SAFETY – PRECAUTIONS
Individual safety equipment:

• Acid & alkali-resistant protection gown
• Disposable gloves
• Face mask (when cleaning vessel)
• Protection glasses and eyewash
• Information to the operator on hygienic precautions for mouth, nose and eyes
• Room ventilation (air changes per hour).
